Working Principle of Spray Tower Scrubber

A Spray Tower Scrubber operates by bringing contaminated gas into intimate contact with a scrubbing liquid through specially engineered spray nozzles. The liquid is atomized into fine droplets within the scrubber chamber, maximizing contact between gas and liquid phases.

Typically operating in a vertical counter-current flow arrangement, contaminated gas travels upward while the scrubbing liquid flows downward under gravity. During this interaction, pollutants are removed through mechanisms such as absorption, impaction, and direct contact collection.

A carefully designed liquid distribution header system ensures uniform spray coverage across the scrubber cross-section, improving collection efficiency and preventing uneven flow zones. Before discharge, the cleaned gas passes through a mist eliminator / droplet separator to remove entrained liquid droplets and ensure clean air emission.
