Innovative Spray Tower Scrubber for Efficient Pollution Control

Spray Tower Scrubbers are highly effective in managing moderate gaseous pollutants and particulate matter found in industrial emissions. These scrubbers feature a chamber designed to introduce water through strategically placed spray nozzles. The water facilitates the impaction of dust particles, utilizing mechanisms such as centrifugal force or direct impingement on water eliminators to separate the droplets from the air stream.

Typically, Spray Tower Scrubbers maintain a low pressure drop (0.5-1.5″wg), with water pressures ranging from 10 to 400 psig. While most designs utilize low-pressure water supply, advanced configurations like fog towers can achieve higher collection efficiencies. Water consumption varies between 5 to 10 gallons per minute per thousand standard cubic feet per minute (gpm/1000 scfm) of gas flow.

Operated vertically in a counter-current flow configuration, contaminated gas rises while scrubbing liquid descends under gravity. A well-designed liquid distribution header ensures uniform distribution across the shell’s cross-sectional area, enhancing overall performance. Before exiting the scrubber vessel, the scrubbed air passes through mesh or mist eliminators to remove any remaining liquid droplets, ensuring clean air emission.
